Can I email or call with questions about the hobby?I am currently employed full time in a field other than RC submarines, so my time to field questions and calls is somewhat limited. Quick questions and inquiries are best forwarded to me via the Chat interface on my website, or via email to bob@nautilusdrydocks.com. Please note the "quick questions" part of my response here. If you're getting started and want someone to walk you through the entire process of building a submarine, explain all of the various ballast systems, or any other in-depth explanation, I'm afraid you will be directed to purchase one-on-one video or phone call time in the evenings or weekends. This time is also very limited, so please work with me on scheduling and I'll do my best to help you out.

What Does the Nautilus Drydocks Offer? The Nautilus Drydocks currently offers a wide range of products specifically for the hobby of RC Submarines. This includes model kits, electronics, radios and other parts specifically for the hobby. What you won't find are generic parts that can be sourced from any number of online or brick-and-mortar hobby stores such as servos, speed controllers and other easily sourced items.

Who are you and what is the Nautilus Drydocks? My name is Bob Martin and I'm also known as the RCSubGuy. I've been building remote-controlled submarines since 1999, and professionally since 2008. In these years, I have built hundreds of RC submarines from every manufacturer you can think of. Up until recently, I offered build up services for those looking to get ready-to-run boats. Unfortunately, since I started back to work full-time, I am no longer taking on for-hire build commissions (unless you want to throw ridiculously, embarrassingly high offers at me, in which case, I'll make it happen!)

I'm very interested in getting started in this hobby. How do I get started?I have created a dedicated "Getting Started" section to my website. I highly recommend that you take the time to review it in-depth for the first steps I recommend for "getting your feet wet"!

I am buying from a country other than the US. Can you under-declare the value of my purchase so that I can save on customs duties and taxes? The Nautilus Drydocks will not modify the value of your purchase for customs purposes. Doing so is against the law and unethical. It is the buyer's responsibility to ensure that they are fully aware of any and all expenses related to their purchase. The Nautilus Drydocks is not responsible for making you aware of these fees in advance of or after your purchase.

How are your products shipped? Our primary shipping method is UPS Ground, however we reserve the right to vary the shipping company to best suit the product and/or pricing. If you require a specific shipping company be used, you can relate that in your order notes, however bear in mind that this may affect (sometimes substantially) the shipping cost of your purchase and additional shipping may have to be invoiced if you insist on another carrier. Products under $250 are shipped uninsured unless you specifically request it be added to your purchase. Products over $250 will be shipped insured at the purchase price.
-
What happens if my purchase arrives damaged? The Nautilus Drydocks makes every effort to safely package your purchase for shipping. That said, shipped packages have an exceptionally high chance of loss or damage, regardless of the quality of the packaging. The Nautilus Drydocks is, in no way whatsoever, responsible for loss or damage to your shipment and highly recommends in-person pickup of your purchase. In the case of loss or damage, insured packages will be able to have a claim filed in order to compensate for required repairs or loss. Successful claims are NOT guaranteed. The buyer is responsible for providing required photos and descriptions for the shipping company's claim process.

What if what I want is not listed for sale on your website? For the most part, I try to keep parts and components that I offer up to date on my site. If you don't see what you want or need, you can certainly reach out and ask if I can help, but if you don't see it, it's highly likely that I'm not in a position to offer that product at this time. And yes, this does also mean products that you've seen me offer in the past. Now that I'm working full time, I have massively truncated production time and this time must be prioritized to things that are in the best interests of the company.

What is your return policy? For most stocked items, returns are accepted within 30 days from receipt. Returned items are subject to a 15% restocking fee. Buyers are responsible for return shipping. Anything custom-manufactured is, by default, non-returnable. Anything on sale or in the Bargain Bin is also a final sale. If you have questions about the product's return policy, be sure to reach out in advance of placing your order.

How long does it take to get a product that I order? For in-stock items, I try to ship out within 24hrs. Many of the products that you see, particularly hull kits and cylinders, require a substantial lead time as they are all manufactured to order. If you don't see a delivery window noted on the product page of the website, and need to know when to expect it, feel free to reach out to me and I'll give you a best guess for turnaround.
