This is a superb model of the German Type 202 coastal submarine, rendered in 1/30 scale, making it 30" in overall length.
The Type 202 submarine was a short lived class of German submarines. They were one of the few military U-boats not bearing "U-numbers", probably since they were never intended for combat use. Instead they were named after important German engineers in submarine constructions (like Wilhelm Bauer). Hans Techel was built with traditional propeller and rudders (similar to the Type 205 submarines), but Friedrich Schürer had a rotatable Kort nozzle instead, which this model features.
You can view a detailed overview of the model in my weekly update video here.
This model uses a wonderfully simple watertight cylinder concept, accessible via a hidden bayonet release. There is no ballast system, making it exceedingly simple and reliable, a perfect pool or pond model that is easily transported, launched and retrieved.
