Finally! New options to convert your static display model of the superb 1//77 scale Disney Nautilus model kit to full RC operation.

The design of this boat, when coupled with our exclusive tilting propeller assembly, makes for a superb model for operations in a swimming pool or other smaller body of clear water, offering excellent pitch and yaw performance, easily able to turn 180 degrees within 4 feet or so.

TWO OPTIONS:

  1. 250 Easy Driver:
This option is, by far, the one I most recommend to drive this model. The cylinder is a simplified version of the Bantam 250 below, sharing all of the same drive components with the exception of the ballast pump, ballast servo and the main ballast tank.

With this option, you can ballast the boat for full surfaced waterline and run it as a surface-only boat, OR... you can ballast it slightly positively buoyant, with the top of the wheelhouse above the waterline. In this state, you can easily dive the boat using just a bit of forward thrust and some down angle on the tilting propeller assembly.

Because there is no ballast system, the cylinder is far simpler, more reliable, and a much easier install in the boat than the full ballast system Bantam cylinder below. Because the cylinder can be oriented any way, you can install the cylinder "upside down", bringing the linkage outputs in line with the rudder linkage and simplifying the installation process. This design also offer more room for batteries, giving about double the battery capacity over the Bantam option.

  2. 250 Series Bantam:
This option allows full surfaced waterline of the boat, with the ballast system capable of bringing the boat from submerged trim (waterline just below top of wheelhouse) to fully surfaced trim with the waterline just below the main deck, per the movie.

The builder will need to decide if the additional cost and complication is worth this ability.

Because of the configuration of the ballast tank, the linkages in this option are on the top of the boat, necessitating the use of the linkage tower in the stern to drop the output from high in the hull to low in the hull to meet the rudder linkage.

This option requires a small battery compartment, limiting the size of the battery to 1500mAh versus the larger 3000mAh battery used in the EasyDriver.
