USS Skipjack Class Submarine File package for 3D Printing

The Skipjack class was a class of United States Navy nuclear submarines (SSNs) that entered service in 1959-61. This class was named after its lead boat, USS Skipjack. The new class introduced the teardrop hull and the S5W reactor to U.S. nuclear submarines.

The Skipjacks were the fastest U.S. nuclear submarines until the Los Angeles-class submarines, the first of which entered service in 1974.

These 3D files were drafted by Randy Sanders and are proudly presented here at the Nautilus Drydocks. The files feature exceptionally easy printing and assembly. Hull access is via a pair of superbly engineered locking bayonet rings fore and aft.

Don't like the scale? The beauty of 3D printing is that you can scale them to nealry ANY size and print out your perfect boat. I highly recommend the slightly smaller, but no less awesome, 1/96 scale version.

All parts are designed to fit in printers with a minimum 170mm z-axis capacity. Printing in PETG, ASA, or ABS is recommended for strength, durability and resistance to warping in heat (including a simple sunny day!). PLA plastics, while easy to work with, do require a high degree of extra care and attention due to the low melting point of the plastic.

Assembled parts in 1:72 scale:

Length: 1037mm

Beam: 161mm
Height: 242mm
