The Stickleback-class submarines were midget submarines of the British Royal Navy. X51 Stickleback, launched 1 October 1954, sold to the Royal Swedish Navy in 1958 and was renamed Spiggen (Swedish name for "Stickleback")
 
This particular model originally came to me from a builder out of California in partially completed state. It was then sold to a friend here in Texas and found its way back to me at the last SUBFEST event. 
 
This truly is a unique and special boat, showcasing not only a museum quality appearance, but superb handling characteristics both surfaced and submerged. At 53" in overall length, it's sizeable, but not so much that it's difficult to manage in the slightest. It's fast, maneuverable, and exceptionally fun to drive. 
 
Electronics are housed in an OTW 3.5" cylinder. Batteries are a pair of NiMh packs running in parallel,  offering substantial run time without fear of depletion. In addition to the superb looks of this boat, it also features a fully functional periscope system. Control is thanks to a powerful and flexible FrSky X18 transmitter. 

The boat comes in a very high quality hard-sided plastic case with custom cut foam inserts worth over $500 alone. 
 
Having operated this myself, I can say without hesitation that this is one of the best running subs I've had the pleasure of operating. That, coupled with the unique looks and superb paint job makes this a one of a kind submarine that any RC submariner should seek out to add to their fleet.
