Project 1710 Makrel (Russian: 1710 reporting name "Beluga") was a Russian SSA diesel-electric submarine. It was an experimental vessel used for testing propulsion systems, hull forms, and boundary-layer control techniques, very much like the American Albacore Class submarine. The lone Beluga-class submarine in operation was S-553 Forel. Launched in 1986 and moth-balled around 1998, the last operation of the vessel is thought to have taken place in 1997.
These files are another superb offering thanks to Randy Sanders, provided in 1/64 scale. Wall thickness will support printing as small as 1/72 scale.
- Length as rendered: 1291mm
- Beam as rendered: 165mm
- Volume of all parts for 3D printing (not including supports): 2206cm3 (2.2 x 1kg spools of filament required)
- Hull opening for cylinder allowance: 142mm. I highly recommend our 80mm single-shaft cylinder.
The file set includes allowance for deployed or retracted forward dive planes. It also includes a basic propeller, however this is not suitable for RC operations in my experience.
Recommended to print in PETG, ASA, or ABS plastic at 100% infill.
